Scribble OS Complete Manual & Setup Guide

Complete step-by-step guide to installing Scribble OS, generating your zero-custody local wallet, encrypting your vault, checking balances on HyperEVM, and registering for the FCFS whitelist.

Launch Web Terminal Mobile / Non-PC App

Step 1: Four-Step Installation & Setup

Run each command in sequence inside your native command prompt (Terminal, CMD, PowerShell) or the in-browser terminal. Click any command to copy it:

1Install Package

Installs the global Scribble CLI binary to your system PATH via npm.

npm install -g scribble-os

2Initialize Workspace

Sets up local workspace configuration for HyperEVM (Chain ID 999).

scribble init

3Verify Runtime & Vault

Validates cryptographic primitives, offline cache storage, and storage persistence.

scribble verify

4Launch Terminal

Boots the local Scribble OS terminal session ready for commands.

scribble start

Step 2: Generating Your Local Wallet & Vault (`wallet`)

Scribble OS is zero-custody. Your EVM private keys are generated directly on your machine using cryptographically secure randomness, encrypted locally with PBKDF2 (100,000 rounds) + AES-GCM-256, and never leave your device.

Wallet Generation Steps

Run the wallet command: Type wallet in the terminal.

Select Option 1: Type 1 to generate a brand new EVM wallet.
Set Vault Password: Enter a strong password of at least 12 characters. The password is used for PBKDF2 key derivation and encrypts your private key.
FCFS Whitelist Choice: Choose option 1 to submit your newly generated address for the FCFS whitelist, option 2 for a custom address, or 3 to skip.
Private Key Backup: The terminal will ask if you want to reveal your private key. Type y to display and write it down, or n to keep it hidden.

Query your live native $HYPE gas balance and estimated USD conversion on the Hyperliquid L1 (Chain ID 999):
